Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad (formerly known as Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad) started operations in April 2001 as a Unit Trust Management Company approved by the Securities Commission Malaysia. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Affin Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd), formed to cater to the needs of retail investors and to provide a platform to tap into the asset management expertise of Affin Pheim Malaysia and Affin Pheim Islamic.

Affin Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd (Affin Pheim Malaysia), founded by Dr. Tan Chong Koay, has been in operation since 4 January 1994 — one of the pioneer boutique asset management companies when the asset management industry in Malaysia was first liberalised. Licenced under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, it specialises in ASEAN and Asia ex-Japan equity markets, serving high-net-worth individuals, corporate investors, provident funds, insurance companies, and retail investors.

Mr. Leong Hoe Kit is a seasoned C-suite executive with over 30 years of leadership experience across financial services, capital markets, and investment management. A Chartered Accountant, Fellow member of CPA Australia, and MBA holder, he brings a unique blend of strategic foresight, operational discipline, and financial acumen honed through senior roles in fund management, investment banking, and corporate finance.
His career spans leadership roles at award-winning asset management firms, high-stakes corporate turnarounds, strategic advisory roles in corporate deals, and cross-border investments. He has led regulatory licensing efforts, spearheaded strategic finance initiatives, and delivered shareholder value creation in various sectors.
He brings extensive experience across asset management, corporate finance and cross-border transactions, having held positions at PwC, Hong Leong Capital, CLSA, and Pheim Asset Management. He further broadened his international experience at Cayman Islands-based Cairnsmore Services / Cairnsmore Capital, where he was involved in international funds management and administration. His expertise also includes cross-border international investments and corporate financing during his time with JAKS Resources, an infrastructure company.
Recognised for his analytical rigor and risk-aware mindset, he balances governance with entrepreneurial agility — whether guiding a firm's financial strategy, administrating global funds, or mentoring the next generation of finance, operations, and investment professionals. He has consistently delivered transformative outcomes in both corporate and investment settings, from significantly contributing in investment committees that spearhead award-winning fund strategies to executing billion-dollar infrastructure deals.
Mr. Lee Chan San is an accomplished professional in operations with over 18 years of experience in the financial and capital market industry. He started his career in business outsourcing for insurance services in 1998, and in 2005 ventured into stockbroking, investment banking, and custodian banking.
He has demonstrated expertise in optimising operational efficiency while navigating the complexities of capital markets during his tenure with OSK Investment Bank Berhad in securities settlement, asset servicing, and corporate trusts.
Prior to joining Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad, he served as Operations Lead in Local and Global Custody (LGC) at Deutsche Bank (M) Berhad from 2012 to 2023, streamlining foreign custody and foreign exchange transactions covering APAC, EMEA, and America, and improving SWIFT transmission processes.
En. Ahmad Izzudeen has over 10 years of experience in the Capital Market. He started his career as a Dealer's Representative for a local Investment Bank, handling sales, marketing, and trade execution, before joining a multinational asset management firm in a Central Dealing role.
Throughout his tenure with both companies, he gained extensive hands-on experience in Capital Market fundamentals and technicalities. His prior business-side experience has proven a significant complement to his proficiency in Compliance, giving him a well-rounded perspective on both commercial and regulatory requirements.
En. Izzudeen graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and a Masters in Islamic Finance Practice from INCEIF University. He is also an alumnus of SIDC's Islamic Capital Market Graduate Training Scheme (ICMTD Programme).
External Fund Managers
Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad has appointed Affin Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd and Affin Pheim Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd as external investment managers for certain funds.

Mr. Lee Ta Wei is the Chief Investment Officer of Affin Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd. A CFA charterholder with a Bachelor Degree of Engineering (Mechanical – Material), he brings more than 10 years of experience in the capital markets and fund management industry.
From 2021 to 2024, he was a portfolio manager at Manulife, managing unit trusts and insurance investment-linked funds. From 2015 to 2021, he worked at Affin Pheim Asset Management as an investment analyst and fund manager, with experience in equity research and managing funds ranging from EPF accounts, unit trusts and private mandates.
As CIO, Mr. Lee oversees investment-related activities including portfolio strategy, stock selection and risk management for funds managed on behalf of Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad. His sector coverage includes technology, oil and gas, plantation and utilities, with country coverage across Hong Kong, China, North Asia and ASEAN.

Mr. Khoo Zing Sheng holds a Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting and is currently a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He began his career as an external auditor at one of the Big Four accounting firms. He subsequently worked as a sell-side analyst covering the real estate sector at a local investment bank.
He joined Affin Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd in 2024 as a fund manager, responsible for managing a range of conventional equity and balanced funds. He brings strong analytical skills and regional market expertise to the investment process.
His focus spans fundamental bottom-up stock analysis, portfolio construction, and active risk management across the Malaysian and ASEAN equity markets, supporting the Chief Investment Officer in delivering consistent long-term returns for unit holders. His sector coverage spans real estate and technology, alongside regional coverage of Singapore and Hong Kong.

Ms. Nurul Farhana is a Senior Investment Analyst with more than 3 years of experience in fundamental research and investment analysis across multiple sectors and regional markets. Throughout her tenure at Affin Pheim Asset Management, she has covered the consumer, healthcare, and telecommunications sectors, while also contributing to regional market research with a focus on Thailand and South Korea.
In addition to her research responsibilities, Ms. Farhana has actively supported fund managers in various aspects of the investment process, including portfolio monitoring, market analysis, and investment evaluation. Her expertise encompasses financial statement analysis, company valuation, industry research, and macroeconomic assessment, enabling her to generate actionable investment insights and recommendations. Ms. Farhana holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) in Investment Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

En. Khirwan Mus Bin Wahap holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Travel Industry Management) from Hawaii Pacific University, USA. He began his career in the tourism industry before joining Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad in 2001 as a Compliance Officer, where he spent seven years overseeing compliance with capital market regulations and industry requirements. He subsequently joined Affin Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd as a Financial Analyst and later assumed the role of Senior Central Dealer.
With more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, En. Khirwan has held roles spanning compliance, investment analysis, dealing operations, and portfolio management support, providing him with extensive knowledge of both the unit trust and asset management businesses. He subsequently joined Affin Pheim Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd, where he supports both conventional and Islamic investment portfolios as a Senior Central Dealer. In addition to his dealing responsibilities, he serves as the designated Portfolio Manager for selected funds under Affin Pheim Unit Trusts Berhad and contributes to portfolio management activities as part of a collaborative investment team.

Ms. Jayshene Selva Kumar is an Investment Analyst covering the Philippines and Indonesia equity markets, with sector coverage including utilities, banking, transportation & logistics, and renewable energy. Jayshene graduated from University Utara Malaysia (UUM) with a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Economics.
Her work involves in-depth company and industry research, site visits, management meetings, financial modelling, and qualitative assessments to evaluate investment opportunities. She combines fundamental research with quantitative analysis to deliver informed investment recommendations that support the firm's investment strategy. Her interest in equity research and capital markets was developed through her academic studies, while her professional and internship experiences strengthened her analytical thinking, attention to detail, and financial analysis skills.

Mr. Harkishen Singh is an Investment Analyst with sector coverage spanning Oil & Gas, Plantation & Commodities, and Manufacturing/Industrials in Malaysia, alongside regional coverage of Taiwan and Vietnam. His work involves company and industry deep-dives, financial modelling, and qualitative assessments to support investment decisions.
